@ONE Online Teaching Practicum

The information below is provided to help certification candidates understand the Practicum requirements and prepare for a successful experience.

What is the Online Teaching Practicum?
- The advanced phase of the Online Teaching Certification Program.
- Your opportunity to reflect on your online teaching skills and develop online artifacts that that demonstrate the proficiencies you've acquired throughout the program and fulfill the iNACOL National Standards in Online Teaching (PDF).
- You will share your online teaching artifacts with one of the following:
- a Mahara ePortfolio
- a Google Site
- an online course you have developed in your own course management system (institutional approval necessary).
- After successfully completing the Practicum, you will receive the final certification designation from @One.
What should I expect in the Practicum?

- Brief Overview: You will be paired with an Online Teaching Mentor who will meet with you once, in an online synchronous web conference, to review your online teaching artifacts and reflect with you on how successfully you have demonstrated the iNACOL National Standards in Quality Online Teaching (PDF). With your Mentor, you will develop a work plan to polish your artifacts and present them in either a Mahara ePortfolio, a Google Site or integrated into an online course (or part of an online course) developed in a Course Management System of your choosing (candidates are responsible for access and must have approval from their institution). Then you will share your final artifact presentation with the @One Final Certification Review Team for evaluation. Candidates who successfully demonstrate proficiency of the iNACOL National Standards in Online Teaching will be granted the final certification designation from @One.
Who may register for the Practicum?
- To be eligible for registration, you must:
- Ge enrolled in the @One Online Teaching Certification program.
- Have successfully completed all five required certification courses.
When is the Practicum offered?
- The Practicum is scheduled as a 12-week class that will be offered once per season (Fall, Spring, and Summer).
How do I register for the Practicum?
- When the Practicum is open for registration, it will appear on the Online Courses tab at the top of this page.
How much does the Practicum cost?
- Regardless of your educational affiliation, the registration fee for the Practicum is $225.
Is university credit available for the Practicum?
Yes. You may opt to receive 2 units of professional development credit through Fresno Pacific University for completing this class successfully. Extra fees apply. Please visit our information page for more details.
What if I do not successfully complete the Practicum?
- Individuals who do not sucessfully demonstrate proficiency of the iNACOL Online Teaching Standards before the end of the 12-week Practicum will need to re-register and pay the full $225 registration fee again.
